The Elimination Game- US Edition

The event space before the show
The venue in St. Louis

📍18 Rails, St. Louis, Missouri 🗓️ 30th April 2025

With everything that's happening in the world, we thought there was no better time to send Andrew Wildgoose to the US of A in an effort to smooth trade relations and export the biggest quiz based live show that Edinburgh has to offer!

We sat down with the main man to ask:

✈️How The Trip Came About ✈️

🏈Differences In The Audience

🎪Upcoming Plans For The Elimination Game 🎪

  • Running a Fringe show in Missouri seems quite a random step, how did this trip come about?
    • There are a couple of steps that made this happen, but mostly it was a really good opportunity in the right place. My Brother-in-Law is based in St.Louis Missouri and he works on large production events, usually award shows and large charity galas. He was keen to showcase the Elimination Game to the people of St.Louis and see what they think. So the short answer is, through my Brother-In-Law.

    Downtown St Louis
Flag Avenue, as the locals call it (probably)
  • Did you notice any differences between the American crowd and the crowds at the Fringe Festival?
    • YES, totally. I don’t know all the answers to the questions, some of them I have a fair idea, some of them I can give a good guess and some I am totally in the dark about (mostly ones about books and art… don’t judge me). I am always keen to get as many people as far through the game as possible, so I will try and convince people to come to the area I am pretty sure is correct if no one is standing in it. The Americans seemed to be SUPER dubious in my opinion, thinking I was trying to trick them into getting something wrong. I’d say the players in the STL version were far more convinced of their answers once they were in an answer. Good on them… they often were resolutely wrong but good for the strong willed nature of their wrongness.

  • For anyone totally new, how does the format work?
    • It’s a completely interactive game show with multiple choice questions and multiple choice engagement levels. You move about a space to choose your answer to each question, if you are in the correct area you stay on to the next question, if you are in the wrong place, you are out till the next round.

  • Long term Elimination Game fans will be interested to hear if you tried anything new at the show?
    • We did actually, we reversed the script on the format for one round and instead of one right answer, there was one wrong answer and two correct answers. It meant the crowd had a two thirds chance of being correct. We called them Ladder rounds, the wrong answer would be replaced each question and build up and up. It was good fun!

The first 17 Rails were not suitable for the scale we wanted
  • Will the elimination game be back in Edinburgh this year?
    • OF COURSE. Work is very much underway to ensure this year is going to be the best Elimination Game anyone has ever seen. Year One (2023) was just finding our feet, year two (2024) was getting the flow right, the awkward 2nd album. Year three (THIS YEAR) will be our magnus opus. The “you had to be there, man” of the elimination game. Not to be missed. It’s going to be a new experience for everyone.

Tickets will be on sale soon- follow us on Instagram and Facebook for more details, AND to find out about some special events that might be on the cards.
